I noticed you all are very good at sourcing materials from the web, print or multimedia, so I would like to invite all of you on behalf of the English Department Sec 2 teachers for 2008 (planning for next years work), to submit any interesting materials you managed to find on the following topics which you all will be covering in 2008. SECTION A – FREE WRITING ( 40marks)

WRITE A COMPOSITION ON ONE OF THE FOLLOWING TOPICS , YOUR COMPOSITION SHOULD BE AT LEAST 350 WORDS LONG.

1. Describe a great celebration that you took part in.

2. Write about an occasion when a special family meal produced unexpected
results.

3. Should you worry so much about endangered species? What is your view?

4. Write about a rivalry between two teenagers.

5. Write a story based on the sentence

'As soon as I heard the news of the speial offer, I knew whtat I must do.'


SECTION B – FUNCTIONAL WRITING (20 marks)

BEGIN ON A FRESH SHEET OF PAPER

You have misunderstood a person. Write a letter of about 250 words to apologise to him/her. Include the following points:

1. What was the misunderstanding about?
2. What caused the misunderstanding?
3. How did you feel after the incident?
4. Express your intention to patch things up.

The address and salutation in your letter should not be included in the 250 words.
(There should be at least 4 paragraphs in your letter )

Actually, was very tired in the evening,just felt like going out though there were a lot of work to do. Just decided to take a pause and unwind.
We went to the usual Century Square theatre but there was no 'Apocalyto' and we crossed over to Tampines Mall theatre which we don't particularly like because the ushers had been so fussy in the past and we had embaraasing and unpleasant incidences with them.
We were surprised the show was in South American language. The performers were very natural in their acting. We enjoyed the show. The part where the tribes were led captive to the Azectec territory and how the prisoners had their fate thrown to the whims of the gods of their masters were gruesome. The prisoners were laid in turn on the sacrificial alter and had their heart slit out and heads chopped off and throun down the steeped steps were horrendous!
My husband and I argued if the show had a plot which I felt there definitley was one.
We decided agaisnt going for our favourite supper treat near Bedok Police Station as it was already 11.30 and we had to wake up early the next moring for work!
